"Dad, Can We Go To The Park?" "No Son, Not Now"...
The haze is getting really, really bad. It's worse for us who don't have air-conditioner at home. Hani couldn't do the laundry because it's really bad that everyone can smell the smoke. In time like this, it's easy to get sick. Some would have itchy sensation in the throat, coughing, nose block, red and watery eyes etc. Even if you have a little cough, you'll go like...
"Damn, this is coz of the haze"... ... although when you experience the same during those days, you won't even notice. As I write, I can just feel that polluted air running through my lungs. You'll feel one kind if you're walking down the streets nowadays that you'll start wiping your face and eyes as if there's dust on it or something. Then, you'll get curious and ask youself, is that really dust or my tahi mata for god sake!...
Alhamdulillah, Danish is okay. The only thing is we have to set our fan to the max and close all windows plus the sliding door. We also spent most of the time indoors although I was like dying, craving for pizza when I passed by Pizza Hut yesterday evening from my meeting at Mandarin Oriental. The haze at KLCC was really bad yesterday. So bad that I couldn't see the twin towers. And I was just at Mandarin; next to KLCC! Man, can you imagine that?
Blame the Sumatera again! Damn, it's the same old story every year. Seems to me that Malaysians never learn. The authorities really should do something. All this while we know that Sumatera is the culprit behind all those forest fires. Then there should be like a special arrangement with Indonesia to ensure next year forest fires are handled differently and stuffs.
I've read somewhere that in the US especially California suffers from forest fires every summer. But unlike here, the US Department of Forest and the Fire department are equipped with air tankers aircrafts and helicopters to fight the fires. The forest fires in California burn thousands of acres of brush for crying out loud! But hey, there is no widespread haze over California. The government should make a study trip to California or something, really. Well, yeah... there's nothing we can do to stop the wind. But Asian countries could at least work things out to help the Indonesians to find a new way of farming. Hellooo, this haze thing is becoming an annual event for god sake!
Here's some tips :
Close all windows and doors to your bedroom. Boil a kettle (electric) of water in the room and allow the steam to fill the room. Allow 10 - 15 minutes for the fine water vapor (steam) to collect the pollutants / particles in the air and settle down. After this the room should contain healthier air.
Hmpphhh... any chance of our office to declare public holiday? Hehe...
